About PDF to Clipboard

PDF to Clipboard ("the extension") lets you copy text from, or download, chosen pages of a PDF open in your browser.

Summary

The extension works entirely on your device. It does not collect, store, or send your data to the developer or anyone else.

What the Extension Accesses

The PDF in Your Current Tab

When you click the extension's icon, it reads the address of your current tab and loads that PDF so it can extract text or pages locally on your computer. This happens only after you click the extension icon and only for the current tab.

  • PDFs on websites: The extension downloads the PDF again from the same website. Your browser may include its usual cookies for that website so PDFs behind a login can still work. The request is made only to the website hosting the PDF.
  • PDFs saved on your computer: For file:// addresses, the extension can read the file only if you have enabled Allow access to file URLs for the extension in Chrome's settings.

Your Clipboard

When you click Copy, the extension writes the text from your selected PDF pages to your clipboard. The extension does not read the contents of your clipboard.

Downloads

When you click Download as PDF, the extension creates a new PDF containing your selected pages and saves it to your computer using your browser's normal download functionality.

What the Extension Does Not Do

  • It does not send PDF contents, extracted text, tab addresses, or other user data to the developer or any third party.
  • It does not permanently store your data. PDF contents are held in memory only while the extension popup is open and are discarded when the popup is closed.
  • It does not use analytics, tracking technologies, advertising, or cookies of its own.
  • It does not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
  • It does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
  • It does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Permissions

activeTab Lets the extension access the PDF in your current browser tab only after you click the extension icon.
clipboardWrite Lets the extension write extracted PDF text to your clipboard when you click Copy.
Access to file URLs Lets the extension read PDF files stored on your computer, but only if you manually enable this permission in Chrome's extension settings.

Third-Party Libraries

The extension includes the open-source libraries PDF.js and pdf-lib. These libraries are bundled directly with the extension and run locally on your device.

They are not loaded from external servers and do not send your PDF data or other information anywhere.
